The Cheese Bar London: Making the world a cheddar place one dish at a time. Last Friday, I headed up to Camden Market to get my BRIEyonce on and stuff myself full of cheese.
It was a successful trip and I left having done both (note to self, cheese hangovers are real, so please consume all queso responsibly.)

Our first dish, The Cheese Puffs, were described to us as being The Cheese Bar’s answer to olives. Akin to mini-scones, these warm puffs of heaven were the perfect appetizer – especially being served with a Mayfield cream cheese. Complete with a grating of parmesan they were salty, doughy and utterly delightful.

Next up were the starters. Both fried, obviously. The Fondue Fritter with Romesco sauce was a cheesy, tangy ball of gooey delight. And for the Mozzarella sticks, all I have to say is “‘dat cheese pull!”

Having starved ourselves all day there was no hanging back when it came to the main event: Bring on the Chicken Poutine complete with curd, crispy onion and sage, the Blue Cheese Raclette with salt beef, potatoes and honey, The Queso Fundido – a pool of molten Oaxaca and Chihuahua cheeses, surrounding a mountain of chilli, nachos and lime. And last but certainly not least, the Cheese Bar’s infamous five cheese Macaroni. Served on small skillet pans, each dish was utterly delicious and far more filling than what they look.

The Queso Fundido was my favourite along with the Macaroni. The former for it being a bit different and packing a punch which worked fantastically with both the Oaxaca and Chihuahua and the latter for its ‘warm hug’ quality! Also because it’s the most efficient way to eat five cheeses at once.
The Poutine and Raclette were both still tasty – empty plates proved that – but if I had to pass criticism, the Raclette was perhaps a little on the sweet Side and the Poutine less exciting in flavour than the others.
All in all, The Cheese Bar was really grate (unlike my puns) and if you’re in Camden hankering after some sweet sweet queso, defiantly hit it up. I’ll be returning soon to experience their Fondue Thursdays, because what could be better on a Thursday?
